M.K. Clayton

M.K. brings empathy, precision, and dedication to family law.

“I am passionate about serving the LGBTQ+ community and ensuring we have access to the legal protections and services we need.”

M.K. Clayton’s journey to family law reflects a lifelong passion for advocacy. Growing up between North Carolina and Connecticut, their dual upbringing shaped a dynamic perspective and a strong commitment to supporting families through challenges.

With a Bachelor’s in Sociology from North Carolina State University and a master’s in Social work from UIC Jane Addams College of Social Work, M.K. spent seven years helping individuals navigate crises. Their work with Resilience, a Chicago rape crisis center, and women facing homelessness and severe mental illness solidified their dedication to addressing systemic family issues.

“My role is to turn the complex and intimidating into something clear and empowering, ensuring every client feels heard and protected.”

Driven to make a more direct impact, M.K. pursued law, earning a degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2024 with a certificate in Labor and Employment Law. Their legal experience includes clerking for the Chicago Teachers Union’s legal department and serving as a judicial extern for the Honorable Alison C. Conlon.

At O. Long Law, LLC, M.K. combines compassion and strong advocacy to guide clients through complex family law matters, with a focus on equitable access for the LGBTQ+ community.

“Justice is not just a principle; it’s a commitment to stand beside those who need a voice.”

Outside of work, M.K. explores Chicago’s vibrant restaurants, art, and music with their fiancé and chosen family. They also volunteer with the Transformative Justice Law Project and Bucktown/Wicker Park Mutual Aid, reflecting a deep commitment to community.
